Happy Stamper - Nichol Magouirk Style

Happy Wednesday  Thursday!  (editing because Im a dork!)
Wednesdays Thursdays here on the blog, we like to showcase stampers or stamping products.  I was originally going to do a post about some vintage stamps we carry here in the store but we then had 2 customers in a row ask me about clean and simple cards so I thought maybe I should share with you one of my favourite clean stampers - Nichol Magouirk.

Nichol currently designs for Mama Elephant, Lawn Fawn and Simple Stories.  Her style is super clean and super cute!  And if you want a little craft envy, be sure to check out her video of her craft room!

Her website is as organized as her craft room is, she has tons of how-to videos, and she also has lots of Silhouette tips!  After checking out some of my favourite projects, please be sure to check out her blog!

Two For One

Happy Tuesday!
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving (and took lots of pictures to scrap!).  Since yesterday was a holiday, I took the day off...to house clean!  However, my scrap area is sparkling clean which makes me feel super creative!
Here are some upcoming events at the store - be sure to check out the Mixed Media Mania post too!

Christmas Card Class - Wednesday Oct 15th @ 630pm

Mixed Media Layouts - Thursday Oct 16th @10am or Monday Oct 20th @ 630 pm

Art Journal Class - Tuesday Oct 21st @ 630pm or Friday Oct 17th@ 6pm

And, stock is coming on Friday - including all the new Tim Holtz dies, new Silks colours and much more!

MIXED MEDIA MANIA - Using Your Scraps

Those of you that know me, know I tend to be a little on the messy side.  It is a rare day that I don't have ink or paint on my hands (or arms, elbows, neck, etc).  Before Mixed Media was a thing, I did mixed media because I loved using unconventional things just for fun.   I am a big believer in using your scraps...but not necessarily paper scraps.  I remember teaching a misting class and asking everyone to keep the paper towel that they were wiping up with - we then cut that paper towel up and turned it into a ruffle on the page!  In our Art Journal classes if there is leftover paint or spray, someone is more than happy to smoosh it into their books to use for a later date.  And so, when I stumbled upon this tutorial, I knew I had to share it!   I also now know what I want to do with my 4'x 1' canvas!!

Happy Stamping - Thursday October 9, 2014

One of my favourite things about teaching card classes is finding unique cards to share with other people.  Sometimes that means pulling out my old box of cards and revisiting a technique or fold, but thanks to the internet, it usually means doing a little surfing.  This morning, I poured a cup of coffee and went on a search - here are some of my favourites:

This card doesn't look all the special...until you see what it really does - so cool!!

This card is a little bit of work, but her instructions are crystal clear!  And look how cute that is!

What a unique and pretty card!!  And a great way to use your nestability dies!

Easel cards are always a big hit...but with this floating ghost added to it?  Super cute!

I hope you pull out your paper and try some of these!

Catching Up

Well darn it... I was doing so well on the blog schedule...
And then we packed up the store and headed to Red Deer with a ton of very fun and crafty ladies so I missed Thursday and Friday.
And then I got hit by some sort of wicked flu so I missed yesterday.
So let's call this a catch up post!

Here's whats happening in the next little bit in the store - we are excited to bring back some daytime classes again!  If you want to plan ahead, have a peek at our calendar on the website.

Friday October 17th @ 6pm - Art Journal Class.  Due to a crazy full calendar, we have switched our usual Sunday class to this Friday evening.  You can do the class in your art journal, on paper of your choice, or even a canvas!
