Exciting Event Coming Soon!!!

We have been sitting on some exciting news for a while now... just waiting to finalize some details but we can't wait any longer to share some very exciting news!!!!!

We have two amazingly talented ladies coming to share their creativity with you!

Join Sabrina Radek
and
Leica Forrest

for a weekend full of classes!!!

February 21st, 22nd, and 23rd!!

A little about Sabrina...
I am a mother of 5 children, and have 7 grandchildren so far. I loved being a stay-at-home-Mom for 21 years, but that changed in 1999. I didn't get into scrapbooking and cardmaking until August 2009 while living in Calgary AB, where my oldest daughter (Dana) and her family live. I taught classes at Scrapbooker's Paradise in Calgary for a year before I moved to Victoria, BC in February 2011 to be closer to my aging parents, and have taught classes at Scrapbook Parade full time for the last two years.

As far back as I can remember, I have always loved to create, and come up with great ideas. I know that at times I must have driven my loved ones around me a little crazy with it all. Over the years I have loved knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, and sewing, drawing, painting, photography, crafts, graphic design, bookmaking, cardmaking, chipboard construction, and scrapbooking. And on occasion, throughout my life, I have even won awards or recognition in some of these areas of creativity.
However, it is my love of Graphic 45 papers that has made me stretch my creativity even more. Those gorgeous papers are so inspiring that the ideas come faster than I make them. And then a new line comes out forcing me to abandon some of those ideas so that I can go on with the new ideas for new paper collections. I have been featured occasionally on Graphic 45's Ning, Blog, & Facebook over the past two years. The Spring of 2013, at the encouragement of my students and friends, I applied for the Graphic 45 DT and made the top 30.
I am thrilled to be asked to be a guest instructor at Edmonton's Scrap Addicts and look forward to sharing my love of Graphic 45 creativity with everyone there, even if it means leaving the green behind for a while to go to the cold and snow. I look forward to meeting you all and working together on the Graphic 45 inspired projects I have for you.

Sabrina will be teaching a very detailed layout class and a phenomenal tri-fold album class using the brand new Graphic lines - don't miss out on these classes as spots will fill very quickly!

And the lovely and talented Leica Forrest will be teaching 3 classes too!!!

A little about Leica....
Life is never boring at her house, which her husband affectionately refers to as their "scrap house". You just never know what kind of photo opportunities will happen in her household. Married to her best friend, Jim, they have 3 crazy kids Riley; 9, Jager; 7 and Ireland 4. She has been working in this industry for 9 years, loving to share new techniques and meet new people. Over the years she has been fortunate to educate & design for some amazing companies such as Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Core'dinations, Tattered Angels, Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine, Glitz Design, American Crafts, Basically Bare. Her style is always changing as are the trends, always wanting to try new things. She lives to laugh and really enjoy life, and tries to transmit that through her art whether it is scrapbooking or mixed media, she is constantly documenting their lives; good, bad and just crazy. She has a very laid back class approach where there are no mistakes, setting realistic goals where you can have fun creating and walk away with completed projects.

Inspiration Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!
We had a large and fun art journal class last night so after cleaning up, I decided to search for some fun projects with the new stock we received in yesterday.

First up is the adorable mini collection from October Afternoon - Milk Money.
Whether you are capturing your child's schoolroom adventures or reminiscing about your own school years, you can find something in Milk Money to help tell your story.  Featuring iconic classroom images from grade-school through high-school, Milk Money is great for capturing memories for students of all ages.  Check out this adorable card by Linda Barber

Next up is a pretty line filled with soft colours by Ruby Rock-It called East Coast Essence.  Typically this line is for the Project Life style scrappers but I am so in love with it that I am going to do a full layout with it!  Check out the blog post on their website for some sneak peeks!

And here's a name you will be seeing more of very soon...
She does AMAZING work with Graphic 45 - check out her stunning card!

And what would the season be without a little shimmer?  We received the Copic Spica glitter pens this week as well as the Wink of Stella brush pens...what an easy way to add shimmer!
Check out the shimmer on the boots of this card that Cori-Lyn will be teaching in the advanced Copics class at the end of January...easy sparkle added with the Spica pens!

Paper Bows with an Envelope Punch Board!

When We R Memory Keepers debuted their Envelope Punch Board at CHA last year, I immediately fell in love with this cool tool.  As a cardmaker, making a quick envelope for an odd sized card was a dream come true!  This fabulous tool makes over 60 different sizes of envelopes in no time at all...however, I also discovered  (thanks Pinterest!) something else it can do - it makes fabulous paper bows!
We currently have these boards in stock (for only $22.00!)-give us a shout to reserve one today!

Last night in our Copic class, we all made one and were amazed at how fast and easy they were so I thought I would share it with you...

For the bow we made, you will need 3 pieces of paper:
2 -1" x 5"
1- 1" x 7"
And of course the amazing punch board!

Starting with the 5" piece - slide it over to the halfway mark (2.5") measurement and punch.

Flip the paper around and repeat on the opposite side so that it looks like this:

Slip the square edges into the corner rounder on the other side of the punch and round all edges.

Repeat with the 7" piece (using the halfway mark at 3.5").

For the other 5" piece, punch again in the center but DO NOT ROUND THE EDGES (we skipped this step last night but I found I actually liked it better this way!)
Instead, turn it vertically and eyeball about halfway and punch (if you are using a one inch strip, I found if you lined up the left side with the small piece that sticks out, that is about halfway).

Your three pieces should now look like this:

Using a ruler, curl the two pieces with the rounded edges:

Place glue dots on the inside of the rounded corners and match up with the other rounded corners and attach:

Do the same on the other side so that it looks like this:

Repeat with the larger bow and stack the two bows on top of the base piece, attach all layers together:

Embellish and voila...a pretty paper bow!

How cool is that?  I also found a great video that shows you how to make a gift box with the punch board too - check it out here

We are also expecting the new punch boards from We R Memory Keeper (gift bag, gift box, candy box and pillow box punches)  later this week!
Wishing you all a great day!
